Committee Opportunities


  • Social Media
    • Collect industry news and information
    • Edit Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts
    • Engage audience on social media sites
  •  Website:
    • Edit and update website content


  • Program Document:
    • Review and proofread documents provided by program speakers
    • Post to Member's Only section
  • Job Bank:
    • Develop Job Bank
    • Review and proofread the webpage and make sure everything is free of spelling and grammar errors
    • Review postings and make sure old ones are removed
    • Develop ideas and strategies to get the word out about the benefits of the Job Bank


  • Ambassadors:
    • Design or help execute contacts to a select audience to get the word out about ATD
    • Coordinate announcements (website, email) for new member webinar with Headquarters
  • Member Orientation:
    • Determine dates and find location for orientation programs
    • Develop announcement for orientation and send to Communications who will post it on the website and send to members
    • Send a reminder email to members who have registered for the orientation program
    • Team present at the member orientation program
  • Involvement Cheerleaders:
    • Contact members who indicated an interest in getting involved
    • Contact ATD committee chairs to determine involvement needs
    • Update the Volunteer Opportunities list
    • Update the ATD Involvement list – those who have been involved in ATD
    • Develop ideas and strategies to increase active involvement of chapter members and present proposal to board


  • Less than 1 hour event:
    • Plan a recorded podcast or recorded e-Learning
  • 1 ½ - 2 hour Program:
    • Plan an entire monthly event with a partner. Duties include; identify a presenter, location, write a blurb for Discovery, and emcee
  • ½ day or full day Special Event:
    • Help select and confirm Keynote and speakers for a special event
    • Find and confirm the location for a special event
    • Marketing the special event
    • Coordinating the materials for the event. This person(s) works closely with those marketing the event
    • Coordinating the sponsors and vendors for the event
    • Developing, distributing and collecting program evaluations
    • Assist with specific Day of event
One-Time Opportunities
30-Minutes or Less
  • Write an article for the website
  • Greet attendees at an upcoming event
  • Help with registration at an event
  • Hand out materials at an event and collect feedback forms
  • Introduce an event speaker
  • Design a marketing piece

1-2 Hours:

  • Speak at an Event
    • See Request for Presenters
  • Review a résumé
  • Help with a mock interview
  • Host a Book Club
  • Host webinars to welcome new members, answer questions and encourage them to attend the Member Orientation
  • Help plan upcoming Networking Event
